ABOUT ME
A few random things about me...
I have a home-based photography studio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
I've been in business for more than nine years.
I love pizza, brownies, and ice cream.
I don't especially like exercising, but when I do, I run and do kettlebells.
My first car was a Ford Escort, which I bought before I turned 16 (I did a lot of babysitting!)
I have three kids, ages 15, 13, and 11.
We have two dogs, a patient Yellow Lab named Wally, and a sweet Old English Bulldog puppy named Stella.
I don't mind cooking lately, but I hate cutting up raw chicken and doing the dishes.
When I was a kid, I used to be able to touch my tongue to the tip of my nose.
I've been diagnosed with Raynauds Syndrome. Basically, I don't get enough blood flow to hands and feet when I'm the tinniest bit cold.
I love water skiing but once wiped out so bad that I ended up in the E.R.
My husband and I grew up in Illinois and met in college.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
Before life as a photographer, I worked as a Mental Health Specialist at a hospital in the psychiatric unit with teens, pre-teens, and young children. Before that, I worked at group homes with troubled adolescents.
Our family once tent-camped at Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. I didn't get much sleep that week thanks to my fear of bears.
We also portaged, canoed, and camped in the Boundary Waters, Minnesota. Again, very little sleep for me.
I love the beach.
I once ran a half marathon (without stopping!). After that, I trained for a full marathon, but injured my IT band half way through the training.
Some other things I love are...the color yellow, tulips, watching football, photographing my kid's sports, Neutrogena MoistureSmooth color stick, Sorel boots with fur, going out to eat, Coach, sleeping in, Apple, Chinese food, Nikon, and reading.
